The market town of Sudbury set in the heart of East Anglia in the Stour Valley is an ideal centre for both business and pleasure trips. Sudbury is steeped in history dating back to Saxon times. The ever improving road network, a rail link with Colchester to London and many cultural and sporting facilities, fine inns and hotels, makes Sudbury an excellent place to visit; an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Sudbury has been used for television locations, most significantly for BBC's Lovejoy. It is surrounded by the attractive countryside so often painted by Constable and Gainsborough.
Perhaps Sudbury's main claim to fame is that it is the birthplace of the famous portrait and landscape artist Thomas Gainsborough, born in Selpulchre Street (renamed Gainsborough Street) in 1727. His birthplace dates back to the fourteenth century and the building has a brick front which was added in the 1720s.
